I know this is the last thing that 99.99% of you want to hear, but everyone needs to calm down for the time being. I know it feels like we don't have any control over anything because we're being fucked over from all sides, but I feel like we are completely disorganized and ill-prepared for anything other than a rally. It's one thing to say cross the rubicon or it's 1776, but at the end of the day, it's only 1770.
I think everyone had their own vision for how today would pan out, and I doubt anyone envisioned today's events unfolding the way they did (partly due to being pumped up by so many talking heads). I know a lot of people are feeling a ton of emotions right now: anger, disappointment, fear, rage, sadness, helplessness, cheated, etc. I know I have all of these emotions and more pouring through my veins right now. However, the important thing is that I don't ever see these feelings going away and thousands of other people are experiencing these feelings for the first time today. Also, we learned a whole hell of a lot about which politicians have our back and which ones we need to absolve relations with.
Now for the hard truth: we basically attended a rally/protest because of TWITTER invite, yet some of you expected a revolution to magically happen?? Reality check: Twitter/Facebook (hell even this site) can shut us down with a flip of the switch (as seen tonight) which could be a hell of a lot easier if Biden is sworn in.
We aren't BLM/antifa; we don't have the advantage of having social media on our side so we need to be smarter. We also have the glaring double standard for almost everything we do. Finally, we also have a moral standard that keeps us from doing the things BLM/antifa do which really make them effective (exhibit A: PA judges fearing the reaction to correcting the election).
As a result, I am really struggling from the aspect of where do we go next? However regardless of the next step, I strongly feel that we need to begin to organize in the real world, off social media and the internet. The stakes are too high to use platforms that could easily be used to destroy everything.
Lastly, please don't think I am saying this from a revolution perspective either. At this point I'm saying it from a logical perspective because of the unique situation we are in. Furthermore, I strongly feel that all peaceful/disruptive routes must be taken before anything physical.
Sorry for the rant, but it helped me sort things out in my head as well. I would love to hear ideas on where we go next. Do we even stick with the republican party?
Linking this here because I totally agree https://www.ushistory.org/declaration/revwartimeline.html. People need to realize the scale at which something like this moves... and to start acting quickly.
