Assuming the western world goes down the evil path of socialism and totalitarianism... what do people recommend you do to prepare?

Start storing non-perishable supplies? Start storing tobacco (to sell later on)? Start storing gold? (previous post on here advised this). Start growing as much of your own food as you can? Buy a deep freezer and buy directly from Farmer/Butcher?

Teach your kids to: Lie to authority (lest they get re-educated) Survive without electricity (build fires, chop wood etc)

What else would you do, beyond raging on a forum?

I’m not this into the weeds yet, but I am questioning if I should pull my money out of my 401k & then what I should do with it. Might be safe from capital gains tax and a volatile stock market, but with massive inflation it does me no good sitting in my bank account either.

–lilome33 2 points 9 days ago +2 / -0 What I've done. I have BTC and gold and silver. At 26k BTC is a short term gamble. Gold at 1880.00 is where you want to be. You get in for a lot less, its 100% liquid at whatever the market is that day, and if you secure it safely, NOT in a bank safety deposit box, when the economy tanks, and it will, you will get a nice return. Then if you want to take out some profits or let it ride. Gold has been money for 5,000 years. Not giving financial advice, just what I've done since gold was 300 an ounce and silver 4.86 an oz. Bought BTC at 1200.00. Not being a smartass, I'm in my 60's and conservative.

No way man, it honestly sounds like good advice. (I say with 100% ignorance, but trust. Lol)

If I can be arsed, I'll search the post where a pede here gave some advice. One being that he stores physical gold. Under the assumption we'll always value gold. (ideally I hope we get rid of that bullshit mentality of giving high value of something just because it is rare)

I second any and all suggestions to learn how to make, grow, catch, fix, etc. as much as you can and do what you can to eliminate your dependence on the grid/public utilities as much as possible. There's never a bad time to do it. As an added bonus, the less stuff you buy or the less public utilities you use, the less taxes cucked state governments get.

It might be a good idea to set up some kind of self sustaining home area. I don't have links, but it might be good to read about.

my goal is to get a block of land of at least 10ha and just get a small hobby farm going.
