What’s bugging me is that Trump simply had to know that events where going to transpire pretty much exactly as they did today. I find it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that Trump actually thought Pence was going kick the election back to state legislatures and kick off what is going to be the most civil unrest we’ve seen since the civil war. There was just no way Pence was going to do that.
Trump also seemed to sort of understand that too when he kept saying ‘I “hope” he does the right thing, I hope he stands up for us”. He then marched everyone to the Capitol and immediately send out the tweet about Pence not having the courage to do what was necessary, which he had to know was going to at least POSSIBLY provoke pedes to enter the Capitol.
I mean there was really no other way today was going to go. He had to know this was how it was going to play out. So if he did, why did he call everyone down there for that? It didn’t help optically (which I agree, fuck optics at this point), but there HAD to be some sort of plan playing out behind the scenes because otherwise today accomplished nothing, and I believe Trump had to know this was how today was going to play out.
I suppose this theory falls apart if we are to believe Trump actually had faith and trust that Pence was going to do the right thing today, but I just find it impossible to believe he wasn’t privy to the double dealings of his Vice President.
Agreed. Something seems to be up.
