Ron Paul had a massive grass roots movement that was anti establishment. The GOP cheated and changed the rules at local conventions because he was pulling a Trump beating them at the game of delegates. I was selected as a delegate for Ron Paul in my county but my county was not were the fuckery happened. There is video on Youtube about all of it.
I watched his speech against objecting to Arizona. Can't say I like his decision, but also can't say I disagree with him on principle. This all should have been taken care of with the state legislatures before sending the results to be counted.
