Its not just about not refusing to accept electors. It's about sending it back to the fraudulent states. No way in hell Trump lost to Hillary, so sending it back would likely unearth fraud FOR Hillary. We already saw the green party recount (I believe in Wisconsin?) got Trump more votes in 2016.

Right, and in 2016, I don't think there were any Trump voting states where a Democratic state legislature could have appointed Clinton electors.

Maybe contesting the 2016 election would have uncovered all of their fraud and they weren't ready to reveal it.

Dems probably didn't want an investigation into their own fraud in '16.

Yeah. Also could use some clarification on what his statement today actually meant. He could still do something to preserve election integrity when he counts the votes, right?

Dems would have to investigate their own fraud. Pretty sure the libertarian lady whatever her name is contested Michigan in 2016 and 10k Trump votes were found there.

You think Hilary would have wanted to look into election/voter fraud? Probably would have worked out even worse for her, than it already did.

If there's credible evidence of an election fraud.

Only a few people believed it. Now, >50% believe it's fraud.

The VP determines what is credible. In the past people in Congress contested, but the VP knew it wasn't credible, and so didn't do anything. Gore knew he lost because of the Supreme Court decision and because he had lost all the recounts. Pence definitely has the power to do something. That's why they gave it to such an important person. Check out recent John Eastman interviews on this if you want to learn more.

Well there was no massive load of evidence of fraud in 2016 so it would have seemed a little silly for Biden to reject electors.

Having the legal right versus exercising that right is the key

They believed they had it in the bag, so there were no provisions in place for alternate electors

I disagree....Pence could have easily sent these back to the States to clarify which slate of electors they really wanted. The electors act of 1887? should be seen as Unconstitutional by the SCOTUS (I know if they actually did something.)

Not at all, you are conflating the idea that anyone, every time could contest the electors....this has to do with fraud and two slates of electors were delivered.

Straw man argument sir.....I never said anything about Lin in this discussion did I?

The Dems tried to contest 2016, but they couldn’t find enough Senators to sign on...
