While it might seem like Trump has "given up" or even "let us down" - I assure you, he has not. Everything he says and does is deliberate. He is also a Patriot.
What you saw today is him feigning weakness - not real weakness. He also laid a trap of the most epic proportions. Let me explain.
If you are a history buff, you will probably remember Vlad Dracul / Vlad the Impaler. Vlad invited his enemies (nobles) to his home for a banquet, then locked the doors and impaled them / burned them down.
Trump found out definitively who the traitors are in his midst (he had to snuff them out - including Pence). He laid the trap, and now it is about to spring.
We know that his character is fight to the bitter end, especially for America. We know that he has more information that he has yet to reveal to the public (he has access to it all!). We know he deliberately called out The Media, Hillary, and Hunter in his speech yesterday, even when it seemed out of place and repetitive.
I think he is going to spring the trap today / tomorrow. There will be a massive "leak" of information that will blow our minds (media / Hillary / Hunter / Joe Biden / Pence). I think it will inflame the public (he'll leak it first) and then he'll rise from the ashes and begin the arrests and the public shaming of these swamp rats.
He's got the goods, he's got access to the highest secrets of the country and the world, he's a fighter, and he's backed into a corner.
He's not done, and his enemies should be very afraid. Sorry for the rant, but that is my take on what's gonna go down.

Trumps gonna win bigly. When he called off the protesters I was like ok this is it hes going full attack. Hes the kind of guy whos a wait and see kind of guy and probably actually believed there might even be a slight chance Pence would pull through but since hes guided by whats right it doesnt matter hes always gonna come out on top.
Come to think of it, I think you are right he probly set this up perfectly and knew Pence would backstab. Its the more likely explanation I think.

I think he is going to do it. I think he had to put the final pieces in place, find out who his real friends are, and now it's time. Time will tell though.

They will just 25th Amendment him and while that isn't much of a threat during most of a Presidency since all that the POTUS is required to return to power is a written letter saying "I'm back" they only need to buy 13 days.
