I mean, I'm of the opinion that if we really wanna colonize space it may be necessary for long-term spacers to be augmented. We evolved here, on Earth, to be here, on Earth. Space is volatile to us for any length of time. Radiation, low pressure, you name it. Your body is crippled for months after a trip to space. Now imagine the YEARS you'll have to spend if you're a colonist. It would be a death sentence to anyone other than a Aug. After all, we aren't Tardigrades.
