we are in the waning days of trump's first term. without waiting for miracles or secret actionable evidence and surprise arrests, we will be in the grip of democrat insanity for at least the next two years, and have a spineless and unprincipled opposition to aide and abet in the transformation of the republic.

will we spend the few years it will take to destroy a once-great nation spouting impotent outrage and calling each other names?

will we continue pretending that salvation is just around the corner? even if trump serves a second term, he is just one man with 4 years surrounded by snakes and weak men, facing a hostile congress and disinterested judiciary.

we have no political home.

• the democrat party has been over-run by rabid globalist / socialists, ready, willing and able to fight for everything they stand for.
• the republican party has no platform other than trite platitudes that are ignored or discarded when inconvenient. they stand for nothing. they fight for nothing. they pretend that amicable discourse will solve all ills.
• libertarians espouse many lofty ideals, but act like a bunch of permanently stoned pot-heads in a college dorm.
• greens want to hug trees and outlaw economic activity.

we are left with nothing.

and from nothing, like the phoenix from the ashes, we must build a new political movement. one that not only pledges fealty to the constitution in word and deed, but is dedicated to the guiding principles that created it. a movement built on practicalities, with firm and unbending platform that minimizes government control and overreach and aggrandizes the individual and their drive to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. a movement dedicated to rewarding and encouraging success, not punishing failure.

we had the tea party, a movement built on anger and opposition. we cannot be that. the tea party sought a short cut by aligning with the republican party, but were subsumed and poisoned by it. we cannot do that.

we must be a movement of hope. of opportunity, of making every-day folk into great americans.

many on this forum have floated the idea of starting a new party: i agree. we are impotent and invisible without a formal structure. there are specific, well-documented steps to start on that path, and i am happy to assist in any capacity or lead that process if necessary. that's just one step. what we must do is assemble a convention of delegates in each state and then nationally, to define, debate, and document the movement; set up fund raising; appoint candidates for every possible elected office, compete in elections...

this is a long and difficult path, and will be ridiculed and beset by many. but: with clear vision, sweat, and determination we can take back our country.
