This just hit me.
I want to say 75% of my Facebook “friends” are openly anti-Trump, and saying what an embarrassment Trump supporters are to the world.
I spend so much time and energy giving these people the benefit of the doubt, thinking “if only they saw the evidence I’VE seen, they would understand!”. I try to show them evidence, or an alternative way of thinking, and all they take it as is an attack on their ego and react with name calling and personal attacks.
I don’t know why it took so long for me to realize, but I now understand that these people have access to the same information I do. If they really wanted to know the truth, they would search for it. These people are making the decision themselves, to cover their eyes and ignore the truth.
I feel bad for them, and still want to help, but it at least makes me feel better that these people have free will and are still choosing ignorance.
I’ve been afraid of deleting my Facebook because I think, how will these people know ANYTHING other than what the news spoon feeds them.
With this newfound knowledge I can now delete social media and be at peace. Everyone is on their own journey
Don't feel bad for them. Feel bad for us. We can't unsee what we've seen. Even if we wish we could.
