Owe I'm all for storming The Federal Reserve. And for the record I talk all the time about the flaws in the 16th Amendment. It doesn't need to be repealed. The Government really did need a way to gather funds.
The flaw was that they broke the basic rule of the constitution... The Bill of Rights was added as a list of NEGATIVE RIGHTS. It was meant to say NO the government can't do these things to the people. It was all designed to restrict government power.
When they added the 16th they forgot the 2nd and 3rd and maybe 4th sections that said what the LIMITS were on taxation. What about even just a hard limit of 20%. ANY kind of limit no matter how ridiculously high would have put the breaks on all this socialistic BS.
Instead a tax of 99%, hell 100%, is legal. THAT is the problem. That should never ever ever be possible for the government to do EVER.
The other limitation is simple. There should have been a clause that says ALL taxation must be applied to ALL citizens evenly. This entire setup of taxing the rich and not taxing the poor IS the problem. From day one it should have been something like this.
5% in 0.1% increments can be applied by the congress in any way they deem fit. ALL taxation above 5% must be applied equally and proportional for ALL people regardless of color, race, sex, income, total wealth, etc...
In other words if the "top rate" for rich people is 30%... that means the bottom rate is 25%. So that person working three part time minimum wage jobs is feeling that 25% taxation every time they cash their paychecks. Who do you think they are voting for next time... AOC/Berny or MAGA?
Instead we gave the government a whole box of blank signed checks and said now use these wisely, we trust you. Heh. What a freaking joke.
The other thing we need to fix is debt. We need a limit on debt. I think it should be formula based. IE the max amount of money congress can barrow is 100% of the 10 year average of the money they receive in taxes. That is like telling a working man that makes 100k a year that his credit card debt can't exceed 100k.
Allow them to even over ride that in an emergency. It requires a 2/3rd vote, must be voted on a minimum of every 2 years and the bill must be a SINGLE issue stand alone bill. No poison pill BS. In other words the public can hang that vote around their neck and lynch them for it at the voting booth.
One other thing. Do away with them creating debt via liabilities and contracts. Meaning those sweat sweat pension packages for government workers have got to go. Pay them big money up front and budget based on that. Its more complicated and would require the right wording but remove the power of ALL governments at all levels to make huge wide ranging long term unlimited promises.
We desperately need to amend the constitution and fix this stuff.
