Is that accurate? 122 is not that high. I am not gloating, but that doesn’t seem accurate. My sister and I were tested as kids and she is a fucking MORON. She tested at 132 and I tested at 128. I was also sobbing through the entire IQ test because I didn’t want to be separated from my mother (I was really young).
Anyway I think 130 and up is enough for admittance to Mensa, but looking at my sister’s score I just don’t know how accurate these stupid IQ tests are. So she got into the gifted kids school, and I didn’t — all based on an IQ test. She later failed out of college and got like a 1050 on her SATs.
Point being I am smart and most people are definitely morons, but a 120something IQ is not that impressive.
First off, don't put too much stock into IQ tests of children. I have a friend that told me that he has an IQ of 136. I asked him when he was tested and he said as a kid. I went into the Navy as a nuke, so I was around a lot of people as smart as me and even smarter. Some of those guys were so smart that it made me feel like a complete retard. I can tell you this, I've never once got that feeling from my friend. You said that you experienced a similar thing with your sister. Furthermore, child IQ tests tend to vary more, because it is comparing the child's development to other children of their own age, but that doesn't mean that development will continue into adulthood and leave them in a higher place.
As for saying that 122 isn't that impressive, well, why not? It's the 93rd percentile. Is it really not that impressive to be smarter than 93 out of 100 people? That's placing in the top 8, enough to make the semi-finals of something. If someone were to compete in a sport and got a record of 93-7, would you say that you're not impressed? It's over 2 standard deviations above the normal intelligence. What do you think of the person with an IQ of 100 then? Do you call them stupid, because that would be incorrect. They're the average.
