Mike Pence is currently President of the United States of America.

  • Pence ordered that the National Guard be deployed. Only the president can do that. Mike Pence is president.

  • Trump's statement - “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”

  • "We" means him & Pence.

  • "This" refers to Trump ceding power to Pence

  • "Continue our fight" - Congress hasn't voted yet. The early-hours vote to certify Biden was invalid because the Vice President was not presiding. Mike Pence is president.

  • It really was literally the end of Trump's first term. Right now, Pence is president.

  • The orderly transition will be from Pence to Trump

  • Trump's flight to Texas did not identity as Air Force One. That means the President was not on board. Mike Pence is president.

"When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

Prove me wrong.

Trump called Pence out for being a coward..

There, you're wrong.

If power was handed over to Pence already, it is definitely game over.

I’m more inclined to believe Trump meant the MAGA movement and the very few in DC who have been loyal to him when he said “We”.

The problem with this kind of thinking is that Trump is straightforward. This is not straightforward. No Trump was stabbed in the back. Will he respond to the treason? We will find out soon.

This “only the president has the authority” line needs to end. It’s based in what I can only assume is intentional blindness. The presidents authority is delegated to the SecDef who in turn delegated it to the secretary of the army. The president’s command of DCNG is more ceremonial than practical as this has been delegated down the chain of command.

Pence never ordered the National Guard. He is merely one of the individuals that the Pentagon met with prior to reversing their earlier decision not to mobilize.

Pence never ordered the National Guard.

Every news outlet reported otherwise: https://news.yahoo.com/pence-not-trump-reportedly-approved-001600058.html

This “only the president has the authority” line needs to end.

Every source was reporting that Trump refused to call the National Guard, so Pence stepped in & did it. If Trump did not want to use the NG in the way the media was reporting (which is the only relevant time period in this discussion) then no, the power was not delegated to the VP.

It’s based in what I can only assume is intentional blindness.

Or, it could be based on "merely" knowing that the Vice President does not have the authority to overrule the President. You know. Whichevs.

I shouldn't have said 25th. Trump resigned. Congress' late night vote was invalid b/c the Vice President was not presiding.
