I just rewatched some footage from a couple sources. Unless I missed something big, this whole narrative is so false and everyone is eating it up with such gusto it's sickening.

Outside, I saw typical scuffles between cops and protesters involving pepper spray. I didn't see anyone doing any punching, head stomping, clubbing, stabbing, shooting, etc. like we've seen in recent riots. I'd call what I saw unrest, not violence. I did see the clip of what appeared to be a police officer shoving someone off a ledge, who later allegedly died from their injuries.

I saw no violence whatsoever from the people who went inside the capitol and there was no one stopping them from entering (one guy even taking a selfie with a cop). Everyone was generally calm and casual, curiously walking around checking out the building. Then, someone with a bike helmet starts smashing interior windows, Ashli Babbitt starts climbing through and is shot by police.

I listened to the end of Trump's speech again, wondering if I overlooked incitements of violence the first time:

"...So we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue (I love Pennsylvania Avenue), and we're going to the capitol, and we're going to try to give (the democrats are hopeless, they're never voting for anything, not even one vote), we're going to try and give our republicans (the weak ones, because the strong ones don't need our help), we're going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country. So, let's walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I want to thank you all, God bless you, and God bless America."

Was this the despicable call for violence (that largely didn't happen)? Did I miss something??

It's called lying. That's what they do. The media shapes the narrative. Violent riots are peaceful protests, right-wing protests are domestic terrorism, up is down, black is white.
