With all this talk about violence and destruction, the overtaking of the capitol was pretty mild. Sure, it can be used as bad optics on the mainstream media, but the truth is that these people don't control the narrative anymore. They like to pretend they do, but they don't, not to mention they would have tried to make us look bad no matter what happened.
What really matters isn't the optics, but the real violence, most of which is hidden. It may be hidden in the form of millions of people who can't afford their retirement, because the government monetary policy is constantly creating and popping bubbles while creating inflation. Or maybe in the form of health care that bankrupts a family, because government regulations make it too inaccessible. Who knows? The government does trillions of dollars worth of damage with their endless taxes, regulations, and bad monetary policy. It kills jobs, drives up costs, and worst of all are opportunity costs. Who knows what could have happened had people been allowed to keep their money, a cure for cancer? A new form of energy?
The bottom line is that authoritarian assholes in charge of everything, can not and will not allocate the worlds scarce resources more thoughtfully than the private individuals on the ground who own then. Maybe under their thumb, you won't see somebody dragged out of their house and beaten to a pulp left to die homeless on the streets, but if that happens anyhow because of bad policy, is there really a difference other than the optics?
People do not see violence for what it is. They only repeat the mantra they were taught in 1st grade. "Violence does not solve anything"
