If they felt safe and like they'd won, the smart thing to do would be to try to come off as the peacemakers who just want to move on in unity. They'd try to at least feign a 'peaceful transition.' That's not what they're doing though, and as evil as these people are, most of them are not stupid. They are led by the devil who is the most cunning and clever of liars. Therefore, I can only conclude that they are STILL afraid of POTUS.
Conversely, if they felt safe and like they'd truly won it all, retribution, razing the fields and salting the earth is also a plausible course of action. They have media cover to do it, the populace in general supports it, I honestly don't believe they're doing it out of fear. They want to strangle any last remnants and ensure it's well and truly dead.
