My BIL is retired Capitol police. I asked why couldn't they have just pushed her back. He said that SOP is lethal force when someone is trying to breach the chambers where there are Congressmen present. Their number one duty is to protect them.
There were heavily armed security on the same side of the door as the women where were shot.
Probably part of the leading and corralling of those people to that point.
They are all complicit.
In the video it looks like she is trying to climb through the broken window and over the makeshift barricade. If someone were doing that to your home, it would be justified use of lethal force. I don't see the officer being charged with a crime here. They were outnumbered with an angry mob trying to breach into a secure area.
I know my opinion is likely going to be unpopular here. If you want to downvote, go ahead, but please back up your downvote with some logical argument as to why you think I'm wrong.
Not to mention the squad of SWAT standing behind her. Pretty sure if I shot through a window and killed a perp outside my house while barricaded in when LEOs were standing behind the perp would land me in a bit of trouble (even from my own home).
You will see that I have dissented against the groupthink on this site on more than one occasion, but I am still a Trump supporter. I don't condone name-calling and do my best to avoid personal attacks.
I think you're drawing a conclusion without information to back it up. We can't see the face of the shooter from the camera's angle. The doorway could easily be blocking sound too. The shooter might be able to see her and might be yelling at Ashli, but it is impossible to know from this camera angle. The information we do have available is a witness saying she was warned to get back several times.
Again, my original assertion is that the shooter won't be charged, based on the facts available. It is a tragedy and she didn't deserve to die, but there won't be any justice for her death.
In your opinion, what should that police officer have done about her crossing the barricade? What should that officer have done if more had crossed the barricade than they could physically restrain?
I don't buy it. Another angle shows her step up from the back and attempt to climb in the window. From the time she stepped into the front of the crowd to her being shot is under 2 seconds. Not enough time for anybody to warn her multiple times. Not to mention, in Michigan, if I shoot an unarmed suspect through my window you better believe I'm going to prison. Regardless of suspects intent.
I understand your argument, but there are many more examples of government security taking priority over civilian lives. Military bases, CIA facilities, and many other government locations are not open to the public. That building was not open to the public at the time and she had ample warnings to get back, according to a witness.
I have not said they were justified in shooting. I have said they probably won't be charged.
I really don't know what that officer could have done differently in the situation. If they feared for their life due to a dozen or so people trying to get in, should they have just given up and let the people in? That hallway probably leads to the secure area where the congress retreated to and their job was to protect congress. Should they have let the crowd get to congress without doing their job?
There obviously was no warning. He stuck his gun out from the shadows aimed and pulled the trigger twice. Not once, but twice at an UNARMED person.
He might could've closed and locked the door to the room he was in. Maybe he could've sought shelter down the hall. Point is he had viable options
If that hallway were truly that important, do you really think he'd have been there by his self.
My opinion is....if he was truly in fear for his life (since he was THE ONLY ONE WITH A WEAPON) Then he's in the wrong line of work.
Bottom line NOT justified.
We obviously are not going to agree on this, so I agree to disagree.
Deliberate MURDER!!!!!
That looks like an execution to me.
He took aim and shot. He had time to think about what he was doing. This was not reactionary.
Disgusting. An absolute disgrace.
"Where de Whyte wimmin at ?" You can see he deliberately selected her as a target.
Gee, isn't it great that diversity has made it's way in everywhere? Makes everything to much easier to corrupt with impunity. /sarcasm
If they do identify him, (and how hard could it be) he will receive no justice for his actions because of muh race card.
The heavily armed security just feet behind, standing back, waiting to "catch" whomever got the bullet are complicit.
the official statement is that she refused an order to stand down....
nobody will dispoot sadly

and now she has 4 names
Yes 2 of them being "HERO" and "MARTYR "
Too soon bro
and NOW SHE has a 5th name

and now we are 6 names

Can the shooter see the SWAT? They are coming from the stairs and the shooter has a barricade blocking his view of below.
There is too much noise in the video to tell if he warned her verbally. The eyewitness video below claims she was warned several times to get back.

Is that your fellow disinformation agent you're linking to?
Grow up. A difference of opinion does not make someone your enemy. I welcome rational thought and discussion on the matter, but not childish bullshit.
I hope everyone who sees this takes the time to look at your comment history.

Of course you do, you'd receive a reprimand for going outside your operative guidelines. Fuck off. I've already reported you.

I'm sorry you live in a state with broken self-defense laws.
EASY
That house belongs to "WE THE PEOPLE" therefore WE have a right to be there.
NOT to we the biggest organized crime cabal in the world.
When you go home tonight use the front window knock it out and enter there. It's your house. Just make sure its your bedroom and not the kids

^^ Deep State internet agent ^^
Isn't it your coffee break, soon?
It does no good to argue with people that have blinders on.
Security, scumbag cia, lives are NOT more important that a citizens life.
Believe whatever floats your boat, but this POS did NOT have justification for deadly force. Period!!!
I have not said they were justified in shooting. I have said they probably won't be charged.

Like I said
That doesn't answer my questions. What should the officer have done, in your opinion?
