My History teacher just said that Freedom of Speech (First Amendment) only protects you from censorship by the Government, and not private businesses/companies/conglomerates. Is this true, or not?

True. Until that private organization becomes a public forum.
Im thinking more like telephone companies cant turn off your service because of a tweet or FB post.
