My History teacher just said that Freedom of Speech (First Amendment) only protects you from censorship by the Government, and not private businesses/companies/conglomerates. Is this true, or not?

The Bill of Rights applies to the Federal government only. Judges have "incorporated" the B.O.R. into the States. It does not apply to citizens.
Corporations literally mean "living legal entities" and during GWB's administration, the "Citizens United" case gave full BOR to corporations.
Something else: communications companies but also most all business, utterly and completely REGULATED by the executive agencies via Congress.
It's an ugly mess.
Mainly, its many strings obscure the Puppet Master's hands. But make no mistake, "Social Media," the broadcast networks, the newspapers, all of them play for the same team. It's not our team. Many call it "GloboHomo" because that's their main agenda: to destroy us, worldwide, mainly by doing everything they can to destroy the Family. No families, no children. No children, NO US.
God bless you and good luck. Josey with many university credentials at highly respected institutions that I shan't name here but trust me they're solid.
but what if those corporations get help form the govenrment! eg the goverment made a law giving them help
They do what the government wants them to do -- just like it worked in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy.
