I only mentioned ocala because of the Gainesville and Orlando proximity.
Not sure of your occupation, but if it's based on wealth Sarasota with North Port and Myakka (outside of Sarasota with lots of land) and the one you mentioned with Lehigh Acres (I think you mentioned them) that gives you proximity to Naples, Cape Coral, and Ft Myers
Also Spring Hill has closeness to Tampa
Another area to consider is Lakeland/Plant City (most awesome Sheriff in America-Grady Judd, has lots of land) which is close to Tampa. Also Parrish/Palmetto area has land and it's getting starting to grow hugely. Which is close to Tampa/St. Petersburg and Sarasota to the south.
I live in St. Pete, originally from Milwaukee. Every day is picture perfect - blue skies, palm trees... I often think to myself, “How can today be bad when It’s so beautiful outside.” We have 12 family members that have moved here from Wisconsin. It’s a peninsula so tons of water to live on and beaches everywhere you turn.
Still deciding! Your post might help me get some ideas in the replies. It will be at least one hour inland from the ocean to avoid the worst of hurricanes (even if I’m a beach person, can’t risk it). And at least in the middle of the state or further south. I hate cold weather and would love to never see snow or ice on my car again haha
Gonna add I’m only a young part-time worker so I’ll be looking at apartments myself. Houses are off the table until I’m married or make a crap ton more money.
Ocala area just below Gainesville and right above Orlando.

Sarasota/Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch would be my go to. But do your research. This area is pretty hot (north port to Parrish).
Port Richey is Trump country
Saint Petersburg or Sarasota

North Port is pretty good.
You'd be close to Sarasota and Port Charlotte.
Hey I’m also escaping commie trash NJ to go to Florida this year as well!
