It's either sheer terror of Trump's next move, or exceptional; arrogance, pride, and hubris in wanting to put an exclamation point on this.

It's a great additional example of hypocrisy they provided is in their reactions to yesterday and antifa/BLM violent riots

If the group that stormed the capital building decided they wanted blood they could have gotten it. They were in the building and outnumbered the cops 10-1. A single door separated the mob from the senate. The senate knew in that moment that they were in the mobs hands and they were afraid. The senate should be thankful for the mercy that was shown to them. Instead they are talking tough and demanding retribution.

Yesterday was just the tip of the iceberg. The next few years are going to be insane. People will become more and more radicalized against the government and will have nothing left to lose. The country is entering a Great Depression and is more destabilized than at any time since the 1860s. This will not be the last time the capital is overrun, it is however likely the most peaceful time the capital will be overrun.

Calling for impeachment with 13 days left signals something... what it signals I don't know, but why would you do that?

I expect you to resist when they try

Which would only solidify the resistance and accelerate their own demise. So, it's a win-win.

Why would they be panicking? Yesterday gave them:

-an excuse to drop all pretense of objection and certify Biden

-an opportunity to play victim and garner sympathy

-a mandate to drop the hammer on the populist movement

It’s everything they could have wanted. They are simply going for the kill knowing Trump and his supporters are on the ropes.

Those people took over the Capitol building without any real organization or even using weapons, and they peacefully left on their own. That scares them.

That doesn’t scare them. It’s reassuring. A few dozen patriots nonviolently milling about the Capitol accomplished nothing. They murdered one and got the rest to go home without a fight. Totally pacified. They don’t fear our bite— we’ve proven not to have one.
