Before I go further, I have to emphasize something. We don't need perfection, we just need something better. In 2016 we had Fox News, Drudge Report, Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, and YouTube. Those are all compromised severely. When someone brings up alternatives I often see people say yeah well that site sucks and I don't really like these people... look, we have to fucking do something!
It can't all be one site either. I like the .Win network but we saw yesterday how they have vulnerabilities as well. This isn't about putting your eggs in one basket, this needs to be about building something big enough and broad enough that it can't be stopped.
So, what do we need to do? We need to basically build our own internet. People in China know what it's like to live with an internet that is under severe government control and we're headed towards that type of thing. The only way to be completely safe from that is to build everything ourselves! Our own servers, our own sites, all that are as autonomous as possible.
That's a big undertaking though and in the meantime, we can not have communications disrupted! That means to get the fuck on places like Gab, MeWe, Parler, etc... where you can communicate with less fear of having the plug pulled on you. You might not like them, I get it, but you can't rely on one single entity. That's horrible strategically! Go out cultivate your own networks! Be on multiple platforms, have a long list of bookmarks and when one falls you don't lose everything. They want to be able to cut the communication lines!
That aside, Trump can lead us out of the darkness and we do need to be prepared to follow his lead. When he shows us what social media site to go to we should follow. When he shows us what news stations to watch, we should follow. This is about strengthening his hand as well. If he goes on Newsmax, we watch even if we don't 100% agree with Newsmax. We need to help Trump hold his ground because a lot of people are out to get him.
We can't just sit around waiting for Trump to show us the way. We need to forge a path forward and be ready. Don't sit on your ass saying, well I don't like that site because bla bla fuckin' bla. Go sign up, make an account, follow some people, and then you're more prepared for when shit hits the fan.
We can win a war in the digital space. We just have to be prepared to fight and to use strategy. Build and cultivate allies and do not let them pick us off one by one as our part of the internet shrinks bit by bit.
We'l fight in the trenches.
In the streets.
in the capitol.
But not on the web.
