Russia had its own moon program that was cheaper and more basic than the Americans but they had to abandon it because it was still too expensive even when doing it the poverty USSR way. All of that is on display at the Cosmonaut museum in Moscow and the information is all displayed there including a part dedicated to the US moon landings and praising them for their success for mankind. Why would they do that if it was fake? What possible purpose would it serve to your empire to praise your enemies efforts?
