Politics aside. It sounds like you were lied to in a big way and he feels like he was okay in doing so... Yeah, that's a problem.

There are some people who just aren't able to be together. I have family that has turned up the leftist rhetoric to 11, and it's making even the smallest amounts of contact intolerable. A husband and wife need to be on the same page on most things for it to work.
