I’ve been married to a socialist for 15 years. I have always been conservative but have been far more vocal since Trump took office. My husband looks at me and says, “When did you become this person?” Like it slowly crept up on him. It is hard to bite my tongue around him. I tell him my opinions are based on facts and his come from pure emotion. There is a lot of tension and it has been affecting my 13 year old son negatively. My hope is for it to die down but I don’t know if I can ever go back to stifling my thoughts for harmony. Still, I will stick around, because that is what a marriage is. The ups and the downs, the good and the bad. Who knows, maybe he will come around one day.
Stop arguing in front of your son then. That sort of atmosphere can damage teens massively. Tone it down if it's for his sake, your husband's political beliefs are his to have, no matter how much we may think them wrong
