My daughter and I have been battling the last few months. I grew up in the neighborhood that started it all in Minneapolis. Since then, she has been swept up in the hysteria. I took her through the streets on New years eve to go down memory lane and discuss to her, what it was like growing up there in the 80s/90s early 2000s. It was decimated. Not all is gone, but very little has been rebuilt or any attempts to clean it up.
Today she called me absolutely evil for my service (still serve) and she is extremely disappointing in me. I asked her if she is okay with the slaying of a patriotic woman who has served this nation and done 4 combat tours. Her response was "Thats what she gets for being a terrorist."
If you have kids and can afford it, private school or home school. I was not in a position to be able to afford it and my time away on tours has lead my daughter to be stolen from me. I will never forget what has been stolen from me or forgive that transgression.
Stay strong. Keep YOUR faith. Accept that others are going to go over the edge. Its whether you choose to or not. And it seems you are making the right choice.
