34 states are needed to call a constitutional convention. 38 states are required to ratify an amendment proposed by the convention. If 38 states vote to ratify, it automatically becomes part of the constitution. Congress has no vote or say, neither does the president.

Many times over the years we have been only a few states shy of a constitutional convention because of the fear of a “runaway” convention that may do more harm than good. This is a reasonable fear. It has been many times argued that once a convention is called for a particular purpose, no law prevents it from proposing amendment after amendment in effort to resolve many issues. No law limits the the duration of the assembly, or the agenda.

I believe that we would have a better chance of successfully petitioning for a constitutional convention and achieving the minimum required number of 34 state approvals if the purpose of the constitutional convention is to propose one specific amendment to the constitution. This amendment would establish the purpose and duration of the constitutional convention and the specific powers delegated to it. States may more easily agree to a constitutional convention that must have its purpose and duration specifically enumerated by an amendment to the constitution, before it could take any further action.

All of us here witnessed the monumental amount of corruption, cowardice, dereliction of duty, and conspiracies unfold against president Trump. We all know that when given an inch, an adversary will take a mile. They have taken much more than a mile, and experience has shown that they will demand more and more and never stop on their own. They will never be satisfied even after taking everything. We have tried the soap box, the ballot box, and the jury box. Before the majority resolves themselves to trying the ammo box, a constitutional convention can and should be tried.

I would prefer that we the people resolve to exercise our power to call a constitutional convention for the purpose of adopting an amendment that delegates the members of the convention with the powers to subpoena and arrest any and all persons involved, to confiscate all evidence without warrant, to examine all unclassified and classified information, to compel testimony of called witness, and any other powers necessary and proper to determine the nature and severity of crimes committed and the persons that committed them. Furthermore, to determine the civilian, federal, or military officers and investigators to confiscate evidence, investigate, interrogate, and compel the testimony of suspects and witnesses. Also, to delegate them with the power to determine innocence or guilt, severity of crimes, and nature and type of punishment to the guilty and those that do not provide testimony and evidence in a timely manner.

If 34 states agree to a constitutional convention, I have no doubt that 38 states would agree to the conventions proposed amendment that specifically enumerates their power to investigate and prosecute for a specific period of time.
