Well, they think the "far-right extremists" are so manipulated that they've become unstable and are dangerous to society. They'll use that pizzagate guy as an example who FIRE A SHOT (omg) inside a pizza place because he thought children were being raped there. To the left they see an act like this and it scares them beyond belief because they see the guy as completely unhinged and a danger to society because he's so psychologically manipulated he might kill someone who some fake news on the internet.
They see far-right groups like PBs, like this website, etc... as breeding grounds for crazy people who could do something out of control at any moment. That's why to them, it's important to incite violence so they can arrest these people under a controlled environment before these people do real harm to society, etc...
Of course the truth is that we're all under heavy exposure of information and yes, some people come to bad conclusions but the idea that you should persecute people, take their rights away and restrict their freedom because they "might" do something bad, is authoritarian and it's them being manipulated by fear to act out in an unjust manner.
One thing I personally find fascinating about a lot of these conspiracy theories is if so many people believe in them and that's a problem, wouldn't it be easy for people to disprove the conspiracy? Wouldn't a lot of the people part of conspiracy theories want to disprove them? I realize they are under no obligation to disprove them and perhaps they think they're so crazy that addressing them gives them validity and as such they want to avoid addressing the conspiracy theories. Still though, if these conspiracy theories are so problematic, why aren't the FBI agents simply putting out their own set of counter-information that will disprove the conspiracies? By not addressing them in order to disprove them, it actually fuels the conspiracies to grow larger because the lack of address of them with disproof is seen as a signal of admission that they are in fact true. Wouldn't it make more sense to simply combat a propaganda war with the truth?
Instead, they wish to combat the propaganda war by preventing one side for saying anything and censoring that side while they arrest and incite violence on that side, hmm.... that isn't to me the way the side of truth would truly be acting. Something to think about for FBI agents perhaps.
