Nope. It's to give something a limited time to gain traction. If the community causes it to rise to the top it will continue to be seen after it's unstickied.
This has to be a difficult part of being a mod. Deciding when to unsticky something wields as much control as stickying it in the first place.
The idea is for the community to decide what's important.
Lots of great content never gains traction, or needs to be posted many times before it does. I think a lot of that has to do with when something is posted.
Mods have come under attack here lately, on a lot of fronts. Let's just be sure not to take out our anger and frustration at losing the Republic on them. They serve, selflessly. It's amazing we have this place at all. Some of our current mods are directly integral to this site's existence. Let's not shit on them. (Likewise I was never personally comfortable declaring "mods are gods," or GEOTUS. I understand that those who do are joking)
