Pence and Cruz have a more Christian like demeanor being calm and quiet, but what good did that do in the end? In the end it was the loud boisterous man who wore his feelings on his sleeves that acted the more Christlike.
Trump isn't perfect, but he is at least trying to help us. Remember that next time you go to vote. Don't assume that the most well behaved and reserved man (or woman) who is parading around as a good Christian is going to actually be a good Christian. They are all politicians. Many times I've talked about how Trump never talks to the American people like that or to anyone who is kind to him. I've heard from many people that he is one of the kindest and most respectful men they've ever met..... except with his enemies. The people he gets nasty with are the evil people. No, you've missed my point. Back in 2016 my family all wanted Cruz and so did people where I go to church because they thought he was a good Christian man. I was the only one that wanted Trump. They all didn't like him cuz of his mouthiness and behavior.
Eventually, they voted for Trump when he won the primary, and then they saw how he did as president and now support him. Now they've seen how Pence and Cruz have turned and backstabbed the American people and they don't like them anymore.

They trust the authority of the Bible and God, but sometimes extended that in an idolatrous way to other sinful authorities like Fake News (a product of the Father of Lies). Also many Christians have commited the sin of slander by repeating or accepting Fake News claims about Trump.

I'm "unaffiliated", and so always had some distrust for both of them. To be fair, Cruz was obviously never religious. Used it politically. Everyone knew. Pence was not a quarter as obvious, and even now I don't know much about his actual beliefs other than he's Pro-Backstab. He was always very careful, though. That was more his religion than anything. I didn't think that he liked the Don very much, and that the feeling was mutual. Whether he felt he was a fake Christian or not, or whether that dislike would actually lead to anything was the unknown.
Anyway, In defense of OP, they are saying to take people on a case by case basis and not their apparent religion/ideology/mannerisms. They are not saying "Hurr Durr Christian Man Bad".
Coming from me, I didn't know anything about Cruz before 2016 and neither did those around me and he sure fooled us. Of course we weren't as vested in politics back then as we are now. I was anti obama, but still young enough to not care and with mittens and McCain I just never had anyone to give two cares about before.
I mostly remember first hearing of Cruz from the 2013 Government Shutdown. I barely followed this stuff then either, though. I think that was also the year the cover was blown on PRISM; When I went from neutral to against Obama.
