I looked at impeachment closely. The ONLY reason to impeach him is the Senate can attach to it a lifetime ban on holding Federal office. Problem is the Constitution is clear they can only impeach POTUS, VP, and a civil officer(Article II, Section 4). The moment he's out of office impeachment is off the table. So they would have to rush it through and the only thing it would accomplish is a ban on him running again in 2024.
Given the switch to the 25th amendment its pretty clear they still view him as a threat and want to neutralize him any way possible.
