I'm not on twitter, but I've been telling all my lefty friends and acquaintances that the past 10 months have taught us that violence is an acceptable form of political discourse now. Get used to it.
Some of them kind of stammer something along the lines of 'it's not the same' but they know it's true. And unfortunately, I believe it is true. The left wing politicians, media and social media have been stoking up violence for quite a while now. Over the past year I've asked people 'are they trying to start a civil war?' Apparently they were and they may have been successful.
YES - KEEP GOING! And I'll tell you this, after seeing Nancy Pelosi's well wish tweet towards the cop today, BLM is finished. To me, that was also a clear signal that the left is done with them too. And I bet you over the course of the next few years, a lot of the more extremists in Washington like AOC, Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush, Ayanna Pressley, etc will somehow lose their positions or be relegated to having no voice at all. Nancy tolerated them for her own purposes, and now fancy nancy is ready to get back to the posh, orderly life.
Yeah, keep pounding accountability into them. They know its the same because many people like myself knew BLM was NOT on a just cause, they were defending criminals! Hell, if I were to condone one side, it would be MAGA because I can understand people "rioting" to defend their whole country and the ability to keep a roof over their heads and feed their kids. That definitely speaks to me more than some idiots rampaging over George Floyd, Breonna Failure, or Jacob Blake!!!!
Also, remember the left is shortsighted and also cowardly. They were okay with what they felt was temporary chaos as a means to an end. Now that they've reached the point of Biden being fraudulently installed, they are ready to move on while mocking 75 million people who feel disenfranchised. But the real world doesnt work that way. Their first mistake was thinking this whole movement was ALL about Trump.
The left consolidated their power too quickly. They are a massive unwieldy entity spanning several institutions and government, each vying for control.
The only thing that unifies them is a lust for money and power. They have no true purpose. They are just as dangerous to themselves as they are America.
This is why Trump has been able to dance around them so effortlessly. They have no tried and true method of operation, no long standing chain of command, no code of conduct or history. Just a massive conglomerate of cowardly thieves.
What are you trying to accomplish with all your reminding, arguing, convincing, cajoling, shaming, etc? Are you simply trying to save face? To be right? To bring them to the light side? Who cares what evil people think of you?
You will never convince evil people to be good. The best you can hope for is to subtly influence the fence sitters who may be lurking (online) or observing (IRL) your "discussion".
My asshole brother virtually called me a racist for supporting Trump. He stopped just short, but got dangerously close. For the sake of our 95 year old mother, I still communicate with him on relevant matters. But, now I NEVER discuss politics with him (and haven't for many months) and he's smart enough to not bring it up anymore. In those rare cases when he can't help himself, I don't respond, walk away or remind him that I refuse to discuss politics with him under any circumstances. And I refuse to explain why (even when pressed hard). If he persists, I continue to refuse. He thinks "silence is complicity (with whatever imagined sins are bouncing around in his head)", when in fact my silence means that I don't care enough about him or his opinions to give him the time of day.
I don't care what he thinks of me anymore. I used to. Not caring what the other side thinks of you is very freeing. It lets you focus on much more useful ways to spend your time.
I'm not sure why you'd be interested in disagreeing with this angle, but as someone who's very familiar with the other side I know what works. You can speak for yourself as an individual - thats fine! And I respect it. But when it comes to movements there are moves that need to be made for the bigger cause. Being "all about me" is part of the reason Conservatives havent banded together the way the left does. It matters what people think, when you're talking about your whole way of life and a country being eradicated. The reason BLM got the traction it did was because they knew just the right strings to pull and you need allies.
Look what happened after BLM started looting and rioting and tell me that optics dont matter for a movement that encompasses MILLIONS of people. They do. Support for BLM plummeted.
It's not about convincing them, this is about POWER. Again, you have to look further than just yourself, as an individual.
I can't disagree. It's bigger than the individual, of course. I guess it boils down to picking your battles (i.e. not engaging with lost cause brothers, for example :)) and seeing that the big picture matters, and not giving up on saving western civilization. I'm not giving up. At 65, I just need to focus on battles I can win.
Sadly, this IS now about power. But, if this becomes a contest for who has more power, then they win. Because they will have forever defined the game as a power struggle - which is exactly what they want. When the game is all about power, it's no longer about truth, logic, reason, morals, ethics, or even common sense. This is the essence of post modernism.
When power is the currency of the day and truth no longer matters then western civilization is doomed. That's their goal.

The lust for power in the heart of man is the problem. People who want to control others lust after power. But, we all are susceptible. It's just that the more susceptible among us - we call liberals and leftists.
Also, please dont take my tone as attacking. I honestly understand why you feel no need to defend yourself, and you shouldnt. I'm just speaking in terms of politics. Because one thing to remember is that the left isn't going to leave you alone - they want to invade your space. So they essentially FORCE people to make a stand; people who really dont want to fight and argue in the first place but now feel a need to do so. You're a good person and black people like me will detect it. Dont argue with your fam, but never back down and anytime it comes up keep reasserting that you're not racist and you do love Trump, and those things can coexist. You tell them that I have your back!!

I so badly want to see those that perpetuated this mob hate be held accountable and actually accept responsibility. From what I have seen from those family and friends that I know that have bought into this, that there seems to be little hope of them of even entertaining thoughts from a different angle.
I hear you though, have to keep up the fight for truth, never cave in. I will say two of my friends who have full blown TDS are starting to listen. The little seeds were planted over time with those two.
However, I will not be so gentle to the ones, such as my cousin's husband who screamed at me for allowing "Hitler to take power".
