I'm still in NYC, where I was born, where I've always been. But I don't recognize the place any more. It's time to go. I have the funds and I can make it happen.

Where can I go? I won't be happy in a rural area where I need to drive half an hour to the nearest tiny town. Are there small or medium-sized cities out there where an ex-New Yorker can be welcomed? Are there places where people like us are gathering?

Am I kidding myself? Is this Germany, 1933, and my family and I should be getting out of Dodge, entirely?

I'm dead serious, pedes. I don't know where to go. We can't stay here. It's not safe and things have already hit the skids, and they're picking up speed every single day.

The BLM riots in Tennessee cities are disturbing. But the state is wonderful and I've never been to Chattanooga, so I'm gonna make a point of visiting it.

That sounds really pleasant. We're planning a long, long road trip across the US to check out possible new hometowns. I took a 2-week vacation driving across TN a few years ago and was really impressed with the beauty and the friendly people. A much more friendly reception than these Yankees got in the deep south, certainly.
