Today, I went to a lab for blood tests. So I put on my mask (in a medical setting, I'm willing to play along) and stepped up to the intake desk. The guy behind the counter greeted me and asked how he could help. At the same time, he pushed his digital thermometer towards my face. Reflexively, I raised my hands, blocking it. Then I adjusted the cuff on my shirt to offer my wrist. Nope- cant be the wrist. Gotta be the forehead. He was insistent. I stepped back and said, "do you not understand that shoving something into a person's face is disrespectful?" He was defiant. "These the times we livin' in, man" he replied. At this point, I turned my back and walked out. I DO NOT CONSENT TO HAVING ANYONE POINT A GUN AT MY HEAD. I DON'T GIVE A FUCK IF IT'S PLASTIC. I DONT GIVE A FUCK IF "EVERYONE'S DOING IT". I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT "JUST BE COOL, BRO". IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I could have been a combat vet with ptsd. I could have been a career cop from the inner city. I could have been a crime victim who's got a concealed carry permit and a quick-draw holster. I could have been a 30+ year martial arts practitioner. That guy's day could have been terminally spoiled. Too many lines have been crossed. I will NEVER allow this.
