I just received a message for an iPhone update. I would advise against installing it if you don't have too. Tech is not on our side. You might call me paranoid, but I like to think of myself of being cautions and prudent.

Yeah any Linux distro will do. I really like Linux Mint and Arch Linux (latter has a learning curve).
Wish people would stop recommending Mint saying how easy it is for windows users. Many distros Ubuntu Kubuntu Xubuntu etc are all just as easy IMO and the Cinnamon desktop that comes with Mint feels pretty bare of features.
