To me it's quite obvious he's not naming a new leader because he still is our legitimate leader & sees himself as such.
At least, that's the thinly veiled implication.
And even if he isn't going to be our president, he probably won't be naming anyone until the 20th anyway. Doing so now would be undermining his own authority while he still has 2 weeks of work to do & chess to play. And letting go of his authority early would also give credence to the swamp's fascist power-grabbing moves.
All around a dumb thing to do or worry about during such a highly critical period. A bit of a gamble considering the social media purge, but a necessary one.
