Are Russia and China wrong about building their own internet?
In 1990 India's GDP per capita is higher than China's, now China is more than 5 times bigger while India has all kind of groups fighting each other. Hindus on Muslims, higher castes on lower castes, women on men, dark skinned on light skinned, etc. exactly like what's going on in the US now.
Facebook, Twitter, Google are cancers for our society.
I have always wanted an open, albeit far more encrypted, internet. Hiding ideas and scientific developments behind national borders will slow and stagnate human advancement. The only people this will benefit from a fragmented internet are other totalitarians who would benefit from having central control over their nation's communications.
Although I wouldn't blame a country if they did develop their own, the internationalist regime seems to have central control over all major US social media communications.
To be fair they have been fighting each other since the dawn of Islam. They've never had a peaceful relationship with each other because all throughout history Muslims keep trying to invade and conquer India and sometimes succeed. They even have a religion, Sikhism, that really took off because of it.
