Fuck Mozilla, I’m done. Will fully commit to Brave. And as much of a pain in the ass as it’s going to be, and I’ve been putting it off for literally years now, going to finally migrate permanently to my protonmail from gcuck. Might even set up a new one and keep it strictly anon.

Question, I literally just bought a new macbook, like 2 months ago. And while I’ve always felt relatively safe on macOS, looks like they’re finally taking the plunge. Recommendation? Should I wipe and install Linux? Can I? Distro? I use it for work, and I’m certain all our applications are at least ubuntu compatible, not sure about other flavors.

Also still paying off my iPhone. Guess I’m fucked then? Then the best option is a Google phone with a Linux ios?

I feel you. I switched to Brave today. Super easy btw. I've had secure email but began transferring backups from gmail today. It's going to take days tbh.

Brave is so much better once you get used to it.

Well it's a brand new MB so I'm def fucked. But thanks for all the good info. Moving forward I will be committing to open source, security, private, free speech respecting platforms.

Alternatively, you can parallels/vmware/vbox whatever you want on an M1 Mac, but your commands and input still begin inside MacOS. Better than nothing.

If you're not above paying for your email, I recommend fastmail. I switched to them 5 years ago after I left gmail and have no complaints.

Also check out StartMail.

I was paying for my protonmail but I switched it to the free version since I didn't need the add'l features. I'll check them out.

Even then, paying protonmail just so they keep their platform free speech is preferable to me.

There's no free version for fastmail, unfortunately. I wish you the best.

I’m running Firefox with TOR and a whole suite of adblockers and anti-trackers.

As for phones: I’m about to ditch Apple and get a dumb phone. The dumb phone runs Android - but the phone is incapable of giving it the data my smartphone does.
