I think lower enlisted are more likely to be unknowingly leftist. They are products of the shit education system, they are young and used to not having freedoms in the military and having healthcare dictated, vaccines mandatory, and housing provided. NCOs and Officers at o6 and below are mostly conservative and libertarian.
There's been studies done. College educated officers are depending on branch and unit (Marine vs Army or Air Force, supply vs infantry as an example) between 55 and 70% more likely to be Democrat voters. Enlisted across all branches are 80% Republican voters, Independant was a hilarious triviality in voter registration or leaning for both.
I can mostly believe that. I will admit my experience is almost entirely with junior officers who know better than to spout off if they think that way, and officers who are prior enlisted.
