I work in SF. Everyone was so thrilled, just ecstatic that Trump was banned from Twitter and Facebook, and other conservatives were banned from Reddit, airlines, etc. They were cheering and dancing. They were talking about the "coup" (you know, the one where people were taking selfies with the cops behind the velvet ropes) and how he was inciting violence. One guy said "I try to think about how I'd feel if it was like BLM doing that, and how I'd support that" and another guy said "context matters! One is real, and the other is made up!"

I don't understand how your own party can rig a primary against Bernie, but you think they'd never do that to Trump. I doubt any of them even knew of governors decreeing that signatures don't matter. Or maybe they just don't care if people vote twice... "I identify as two people". They were all on the same page and I was silent. I wonder if these people even know antifa tried burning down a Ronald McDonald house? I guess to support their "real" cause? Do they understand that Mark Zuckerberg can take away their right to speech as well? These people are incapable of thinking things through. The funny thing is I was born and raised in CA, and the vast majority of them are imports, either from other parts of the country or world, and they have set what is now the default political view for "Californians". All of the friends I actually grew up with are based. This isn't coherent, just had to rant. Felt VERY isolated today, and horrified hearing about Elijah Schaffer and #Walkaway being disappeared.

I assume you drink with these people to stay employed?

I'm pissed and I live in a conservative rural town. I couldn't imagine that I'd be able to keep my composure living in the city again.

I’m in the East Bay and it’s been the same experience for me for years. It’s very demoralizing for me and I have thought about leaving, but I do like it here. I can’t say I would be happier surrounded by a bunch of bible banging Christians. I do not consider myself conservative at all.

Dude it's not like people are hitting you over the head with a Bible out in the country. People out here just want to be left alone mostly.

I know exactly how it is. I grew up in a rural town in California. Don't laugh. It's very red once you get a couple hours away from the coast. I get around quite a bit. I've seen the world. The truth is you can say the same thing about Bay Area. Yeah I see and hear a lot of annoying ignorant shit, but I generally like the people here. I think they're well meaning, but very naive. It's not that I would mind the conservative people as neighbors. It's just that I wouldn't have a lot to say to them other than MAGA.

It all really comes down to how you view the law. Conservatives want it hard edged and enforced; Liberals think the law is merely a suggestion if it doesn't suite their mood. They think illegal aliens are the same as H1B immigrants. They think a gov illegally decreeing that signatures don't need to match or exist doesn't make a diff - the votes are the votes. Steal a gun and murder a girl on a wharf? Think of how hard his life is, let's give him a bag of money.
