When I was a kid, there was a joke about "If men really ruled the world." One of the lines was that it would be considered harmless fun to gather 40 friends, put on horned helmets, and pillage a nearby town. We should do this to Congress every year.

Idk. Maybe we should take votes from home, and if we think they've been doing a Good Job, they may leave before we get there.... if not.... well, they can stick around until we get in :)

ngl if this turned into an actual holiday, where we are let into congress or something to represent the principle that the government is by and for the people, that would be cool.

Now, before I get yelled at, I say let in, because this would only be allowed in a future where this would be able to be declared a holiday in the first place, and a future where law makers aren't traitors. Therefore, if that future does happen, my thought is we don't actually want to storm it if our government is doing its job, but rather it be a symbolic gesture.

I LOVE THIS IDEA. In 1837, Andrew Jackson put out a big block of cheese in white house lobby for a few days, opened the front door for an extended "open house" and let guests cut a slice. Jackson made sure that he and others were available to answer questions and talk to anyone that wondered in.

This should be the template for the annual holiday: Jan 6th, Trump Saved America Open House Day"

Did a timeless American tradition just get born?

I actually feel like I can see this now. Here's my slightly unrealistic, but still heart-warming version of what that might look like:

In the future, Jan. 6th will be a cross between July 4th and 9/11, a party and a solemn reminder all in one, tied up in a classic patriotic bow. Students will come back from their winter breaks and learn about the attempted CCP Color Revolution that began when a group of Patriots demanded that their voices be heard, and how those same Patriots would later fight back the corrupt establishment and reclaim the United States. At home, families will have a big feast to celebrate the holiday, because people love having food to shove their faces with. Greeting card companies, as always, will try to make it a commercial holiday, and we will gobble that shit up because we're suckers for that sort of thing here in America. In Washington DC, Congress will hire people to re-enact the "storming" of the Capitol right before they begin the certification process each four years, and people will gather across the National Mall and on the steps of Congress to celebrate and be merry, with stands and food trucks everywhere for people to enjoy. People will dress up as the Viking guy or adorn Trump paraphernalia and do re-enactments of their own. There will be a memorial to Ashli Babbitt on the steps of the Capitol, and people will leave flowers in her memory.

God now I really wish this were real.

That’s a great way to enforce term limits

I don't see why not. If they can declare the 2020 election fair and transparent, we can declare anything we damn well like.

it's well on the way of being so. You can be guaranteed that they will shit their pants every year on Jan 6 due to their memories.

THIS.

In every state, on January 6th, every congressional building is ceremonially stormed.

It would do wonders for kids and folks to see inside those places, and feel like we have power. Make our culture stronger.
