Thus people believe they are free and safe and continue to use their services. Once you have to start using threats to maintain control, you have lost all control because people no longer feel safe.
Twitter maintained social control for yeras by doing it quietly. Now that they said the quiet part out lound they will become a radical leftist echo chamber as the very people they wanted to contain and control abandon the site.
