Thus people believe they are free and safe and continue to use their services. Once you have to start using threats to maintain control, you have lost all control because people no longer feel safe.
Twitter maintained social control for yeras by doing it quietly. Now that they said the quiet part out lound they will become a radical leftist echo chamber as the very people they wanted to contain and control abandon the site.
They want full hog 1984 mixed with Mao, but without an army of men with guns to shoot anybody who complains. See you can't copy Mao without Mao's army. His method revolved around litterally killing anybody who disobeyed him. That isn't happening here, and there is no signs it will.
I think the reality is that twitter is so delusional they legitimately think they are in the right. Only idealists are this stupid.
It's basically gonna end like communism usually does, there will be an overclass (verified) and an underclass that gets extorted. As it loses more and more people due to censorship and just getting boring in general, they will start ramping up the grift and try to make as much money as possible off people on the site, this will further destroy it, before it either gets thrown under the bus by the government (nationalized maybe to prop it up as propaganda) or a competitor takes it over.
