The china virus is not just responsible for lives lost, but also everyone on earth has lost one year of their life, high school/college kids missed out huge, but everyone loses when you can't see friends, family, strangers, everyone. Thanks for sharing your concert memories!
Most of those parking lots are occupied by visitors and the hospitals are not allowing any. Right now our referral hospitals are pretty empty, but they did get overrun as I had friends working Covid units. This was mostly through mismanagement because during the March shut down, our biggest hospital chain fired tons of people and they refused to rehire any, they just double shifted existing employees.
You don't need to convince me, my kid is a Marine and I grew up surrounded by hippies. When people meet me they assume I am very liberal. I am not, I am a mixture. I have been very upset by what I have seen as the loss of principled liberalism. We still have people like Glenn Greenwald, but they are being marginalized. I used to support the ACLU before they went off the deep end. I kept what I felt worked and dropped the rest.
You mean when people could smoke without being publicly shamed? When there was blacktop on playgrounds and merry-go-rounds which kids would spin off of and get hurt? Swings and Slides were high and if kids were dumb enough to fall or jump they got hurt and no one sued. I still remember the idiot kid who broke his arm bailing out of a swing. We could ride in the backs of pickups. This has been a frog in the water process that happened long before Covid.
So, war then? Brutal and bloody? Not now, no, not now. People are far too emotional right now. Later then? Burn it all down?
They chose this path. The path they have chosen is eventual violence. Not voting next time. Not infiltrating the GOP. The path they have chosen is the eventual realization that if we don't use their tools against them, then we will be slaves.
War is not helpful, the public have to be informed and swayed or nothing changes, just a different totalitarian comes into power. Also it provides excuses for crackdowns and lack of public sympathy. I understand the emotion, but I do not believe it work work or even be moral.

I was 5 in '69, so no concerts for me, but I do remember riots and teargas half a block from my house.
