As a kid I didn't understand what the Scottish Lords in Braveheart actually were or what they were arguing about. They seemed like just random men in a building. I didn't understand that they were literal sellouts to the English king who gave them land and title in Scotland to collect taxes, recruit armies, and implement his foreign rule. As a child I didn't understand that this kind of thing actually happened in the real world. Re-watching as an adult was a different experience! It reminded me of the Republican congress.
If you haven't watched it since childhood, I heartily recommend you do so.
Also...movies have changed. Braveheart's tone and pacing are so different to movies today.
How great would it be if we showed up and mooned them all?
