Jonah? Is that you?

Tom Holland's book "Dominion" is great reading to remind us what Christianity really is/has been.

Jonathan Pageau's videos have been great.

Wha????

"There is no history to this character, it's entirely a literary creation"........ literally Roman state records say otherwise. You might disagree that a Jesus of Nazareth was a divine being, but there is no historical disagreement that a Jesus of Nazareth existed in that era.

Btw, all but one of his apostles all died horrendous deaths because they refuse to denounce him. And there are non-Christian writings backing that up.

"The Romans needed to subdue the Jews' religion"... ya, because Rome had such a history of destroying rival religions. They totally didn't constantly incorporate foreign religions into their own, even accepting outside deities as Roman ones as well. Nope. Never happened.

And there are so many more basic misconceptions, like judging early Christendom origins based on the modern perceptions of Jesus the "nice guy" (nice guys don't get crucified).

You mean like a messianic cult?

"There are non-Christian writings backing that up."

You mean like Josephus Flavius?

I get it. I probably would have written something like this a few years ago. Christianity relies on Old Testament teachings and Old Testament relies on the Canaanite deities.

"Render unto Caesar, that which is Caesar's" - a great passage that teaches all of us to submit to the state.
