I prayed.

I have been a liberal all my adult life, spiritual but always questioning, analyze everything. I felt out of common options for me after DC, so I thought much, but a few responses made me consider praying.

So I did, not sure if I did good or the right way, went out to my local park, and prayed in the open air to God. Thanked him for the well timed points in my life that kept me going, and the wife I have found along the way. I asked for protection of Trump and his people and family. I offered if he needs my energy to take it if it makes Trump and his support that much safer.

Not sure what may come of it, but I do feel calmer for doing so.

Non-Christian pede here, serious question. Why does OP have to pray for forgiveness? If I don't believe in what you do, I somehow need "forgiveness"??? Please explain because this is the exact stuff that keeps me away from organized religion.

If he's never prayed, (chances are) he's never asked for forgiveness for anything he's done in the past. If you don't believe, you don't "need" to do anything. But if OP is having a come to Jesus moment, then part of accepting Christ is asking God to forgive your sins. That's all of Christianity, organized or not. Hope that helps.

Of course. I hope you are able to find Jesus. Don't let the organized part scare you off. It's people that are the problem with Christianity. Some because they're ignorant, others because they are evil. God doesn't need you to be a certain denomination. Just to accept Christ and live a life that glorifies them to the best of your abilities.

When you do that, the beauty of life will become more and more apparent, and the horrors of life become bearable. God is the bedrock that gets me through times like these.
