I’ve got a few teens. They don’t care about politics and act like it doesn’t affect them.

The good news is that they are indifferent towards a lot of pop culture and they go to a small private conservative school. There are about 200 between 6th and 12th grade.

However, they watch a lot of gamers on YouTube. I bought them some merch after I heard them talking about the gamers calling out censorship on social media. I also hear my kids talking about quotes that the gamers make, and the quotes seem very libertarian in nature, which surprises me.

Generally speaking, what is the overall ideals within the gaming community when compared to the traditional American values?

Additionally, with the mass censorship and overreaching intrusion into our daily lives by the tech communities, is the gaming community or industry being controlled by the tech companies?

Do you think that it is good that I’m letting my teens consuming this type of entertainment? So far I’ve been impressed with a lot of this stuff.

Finally, is there a chance that the future generation may be saved because of this, or another kind of community?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Gamergate is what started this revolution in the first place, no one can change my mind. It taught us that companies and media, and even some government officials, were colluding together. Video games are arguably the only industry left where independent content creators can thrive, imo. Every other medium forces you through some sort of editor or publisher.

Gamers have been consistently persecuted since arcade cabinets first entered stores, and I can firmly say that it was only because of videogames that I became the individual I am today: A staunch Christian, conservative, anticommunist.

Tell your kids to play Half Life 2, Fallout 3, Wolfenstein: New Order. Fantastic games, and your kids, if they're smart, will immediately draw parallels to real life.

ITS THIS!! Gamergate. "All your memes are belong to us", "Stream your crying", and "For great justice!" You may see around here come from. The game Zero Wing was translated by a new female hire the creators were forced to work with and of course she butchered it. It is the worst translation ever, and is a legend for this reason.

It depends on who they are following.

Youtubers like pewdiepie , asmongold are being censored for making jokes or centrist remarks. And of course due to that a lot of fake drama came out oft (created about their personal lives). Obviously censorship is not fake

There is Bellular and YongYea (they are huge channels) who are anti ccp especially after what happened when Blizzard took away the prize money from a person that make pro hong kong freedom remarks.

Twitch has been horrible as of late and banned the emoji of a face of a person who asked a slightly right leaning question.

TheQuartering is magatrain but he has to hide it due to youtube overlords

so when it comes to who they watch. You need to be careful. alot of them are super left leaning and will do anything to get a view on YouTube.

I know this sounds cringe but as a gamer Ive meet a ton of nice folks out there with conservative values. Actually its how I ended up here. Otherwise the most solid test is as follows

when they start to watch a video or play a game do in the background to let them know you are there (teens have messy rooms so maybe clean up something idk) and if they pause what they are watching without turning around to you. Its probably something they shouldn't be watching. Same thing goes for games.

On the game side its more tame not as much trouble you can get into with content. The worst thing i can think of off the top if the strip club in gta5 but you legit dont have to go to it and most people dont bother with it and just like the blow stuff up. If your kids are playing on xbox or playstation they are most likely going to run into liberals most free thinking conservative tpyes ive meet on pc and theyl build a pc because they know they get the most out of it AND its really fun and interesting.

Otherwise no matter what you do what hobby your part of most the time there will be nice people and then some not so nice people. If you got anything else you want to know feel free to ask.

The gaming industry is incredibly "woke", think like Hollywood. There's subliminal messaging everywhere and no, your kids won't understand it. The storylines for quests, the POCs/Women positions and usage. Lack of gender choice in character selection. Etc... China actually has large ownership in a lot of gaming companies.

Gaming isn't controlled by the tech companies but there are some major companies that can create biases. Steam and Twitch can only allow certain games or content and often have certain restrictions on things. Sometimes the gaming community itself gets into weird political disputes generally over feminism and trans stuff or other woke stuff. The gaming journalists are as bad as journalists anywhere else. There's definitely submission to the woke order required in the gaming community to a degree.

The actual streamers is going to vary streamer-to-streamer. I wouldn't say the people playing the games are anymore different than other social media platforms like twitter. You can find white supremacists on twitter and you can find Antifa Degenerates.

At the end of the day though, gamers are primarily there for the gaming and the political stuff takes a backseat to the gaming itself. He's probably no more exposed to certain indoctrination elements than anywhere else he spends his time in the community. Even if he's not political, IMO, it's important to teach him stuff and get him thinking so he can perhaps see some of the ideas he's exposed to and how that can make him think differently.

I don't think you should not let him consume the stuff but find time to discuss morality, philosophy and some of the things going on in the world. Maybe even try playing some of the games yourself and unwind some of the cultural propaganda within some of the games. You may find none exists but any recent game that has come out I've played most definitely has some like any netflix TV show in the last couple years.

Edit - One last thing. The gaming community is full of women who exploit men, usually because the guys who play games are desperate for women and unable to get them irl so women use this to enhance themselves. Gaming has always been a battleground in feminism/rape culture/incels/redpill etc... You may want to also teach him about women so he has some protection. He may come to it himself but a lot of guys can get caught up in it all and learn the wrong things about women.

gamers are generally highly liberal and they are all in on censorship as a rule of thumb
