Gab is far superior to Parler in terms of their ownership, development team and technology. However, they have far fewer members than even Parler, because the main stream media gave Parler a lot of press over the summer. The MSM sees Parler as relatively safe because it requires phone number verification and the ownership is less ideologically motivated to free-speech.
Parler also doesn't have the brilliant function of Dissenter, which is what really freaked the media out a couple years ago. Censorship really started when the MSM and news aggregators removed comments. Parler developed a plugin that was able to effectively circumvent that. The promise of Gab is giving the people the ability to fact check the media on their pages, that terrifies them. Google blocked them, payment providers banned them, hosts tried to get rid of them. They survived and have already learned how to deal with some of these challenges. Parler is untested and not as advanced or revolutionary.
If Trump brings a wider userbase to Gab it will be a rare but significant win for us in terms of communication.

Gab not only has an app, but they had a browser plugin as well, they were both banned a long time ago. Now, Gab has their own web browser - Dissenter. Yes, really.

Gab has had time since being banned to adapt. They have their own servers, their own web browser, and their own Android app. Parler had an iPhone app, but the number of casual users willing to sideload an iPhone app is probably 1 in 1000.
The account it self is there, yes, but it only pulls the actual posts from his tweets and/or facebook. It's not them posting directly to the site.
So yes it does matter- especially if he turns that into his official social media channel. That's huge for Gab AND Parler due to the numbers he pulls in.
These decisions are not left to the last minute. If he has decided to be on Gab he will be on Gab shortly. Whether you want to cry larp or not, this is all a very well orchestrated plan to expose and crush evil in the world on an unprecedented scale. These things dont happen instantly. Right now, POTUS has a more powerful tool by using his silence to wake others.
Oh! We agree totally on that. I wasn't saying it was a larp? Just that it was a Gab-made mirror account for folks on Gab, and that it automatically pulled the tweets and mirrored them. I had just assumed from the post that the talk was with the President on getting onto Gab where it's the SOURCE of his communications instead of a Mirror. I'm guessing he'll make his own news network of sorts too as he was talking about that in the past, but would make sense to make the mass conservative move away from the left leaning echo chambers onto the more right ones.
Gab is really good. I refuse to use a commie sight. Twitter and FB and others collect every fucking thing about you. They know you inside and out. That is how they control you. People willingly give out the most intimate secrets on those platforms. Don't think they are not collecting it all and it's not in a data bank like DNA. Which I will never have done.
Isn't Parler hosted on Amazon Web Services? If so, they'll shut it down soon enough.
