Not hating but it’s not like this is JP’s original thought. This is something literally almost every American believed less than a decade ago. It’s a concept espoused by many world intellectuals for centuries. The weird thing is that this would come across as a novel thought.
Agreed. It appears novel because liberals (and many others), who used to be champions of free speech, have turned against it. Still blows my mind how many of my liberal friends now argue against free speech, totally unaware of the horror they are inviting into the world.
Also agreed. Believe me I LOVE Jordan Peterson. Been following him since the original video about pronouns and PC on campus. It was crazy how fast he became super famous. He is definitely a genius. And while maybe no single idea of his is original (I mean who has an original idea these days, really) his breadth of knowledge in both the humanities and psychology, and the way he synthesizes it, is unique and unparalleled.
At one time in my life I was in graduate school studying philosophy, and I dreamed of building a bridge between science and religion, and shutting down all the atheists and haters who thought that everything was relative and nothing had any meaning. Dr. Peterson has done exactly what I once dreamed I could do. To me, he is a hero. Just wanted to clarify that! And thanks for posting, fren! Now go clean your room! XD
Is that what the reasoning was historically? I always thought it was because they saw how people who were right were being persecuted and this held back the progress of the society. I didn't think it had anything to do with avoiding physical conflict because usually it was just small groups of people being oppressed by the government.
