Understand that when the real hammer comes down, they are simply going to restrict your access to the Internet and cell networks via social credit score programs and identity verification systems at the service provider level.

There is already infrastructure being designed specifically for this, and even legislation for state-controlled service providers being drawn up, using Chinese and Israeli systems as the blueprint. Like any utility they control, you will not be able to access it unless they decide you can have access to it, and only under the conditions they mandate.

Making any long term plans for free expression or transmission of information via the Internet as we know it is a lost cause, and weening yourself off of it now is a very wise move, because it's already gone - people just don't know it yet.

We are most likely seeing a lower tech future with ad-hoc BBS systems for communities being set up, but it's an concept you should start adjusting for now.
